How might we design for deaf and hard of hearing persons who wish to engage in movement for therapy? There is a major communication barrier a clear gap in accessibility for dead and hard of hearing individuals seeking to employ movement therapy and mindful meditation as part of their daily lives.
We designed a solution where people can access an online platform that contains on-demand multisensory content in over 24 different styles of movement. This platform facilitates inclusive wellness education and training for top grade mindful movement practitioners.
For the deaf and hard-of-hearing who need access to movement and exercise therapy and meditation content, our Movement in Multi-Sensory Expression (MiMSE) will provide a platform and display for participating in movement experiences in an accessible format. For movement therapy practitioners who need accessible methods, our platform offers a space to include the deaf and hard of hearing who seek movement and meditation content. Unlike our competitors, who only offer a platform to share classic video content for instructors, our virtual platform offers archived content translated into visual, and kinesthetic forms.
For our business model, we have determined three possible revenue streams that rely on MIMSE operating as a distributor of high-grade assistive tech purposed for movement therapy and content creators that are digitally accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing individuals. We conceptualize combining raw video, audio, and written curriculums and translate them into a multisensory expression format through media production teams. Users will access our content through monthly subscriptions from our platform.
